About Me

My name is Alysa and I am a happy wife and mother to two (soon to be three) children, a nine year old girl and a 6 year old boy. I am a designer and my husband is a scientist and we love visiting Disney World and Vero Beach. We try to manage once a year but this year we are not able to go because of my pregnancy (I am having a baby boy, due on October 27th). Instead, I am taking my family to Disney in one year. It seems so far away. To the kids and to me.

“Mum, how many days?” “Mum, how many days now?” “Mum, how many days NOW?!”

So to help the kids survive the wait, I’ve decided to create fun, inexpensive Disney movie nights once a week. I’ve done a few nights already and the kids have loved them. We don’t have cable tv and we have always had Friday night movie nights but now with the addition of a special snack, dessert or dinner and a craft, the night is something the kids look forward to all week long. I had originally planned to do the movies in chronological order but life stepped in and I decided to do them according to season, budget and convenience instead.

We’re also going to be doing a couple of non-Disney movies (but trip related) as well. We are  visiting Universal for the first time so there will also be a Harry Potter night. And Hollywood Studios has Star Tours and Muppet Vision 3-D so we’ll be throwing in A New Hope and The Muppet Movie. I considered Indiana Jones but I don’t think the kids are ready for the melting faces yet. I remember in my childhood spending half of the movie hiding behind the theatre seat.

Anyway, I’m glad you are reading and I hope you will join me on my journey as I count down to Walt Disney World! Thanks for visiting!

  1. What a neat idea for a blog! I know my parents still have all my Disney VHS tapes stored away somewhere. My favorite is Pocahontas! One can never be too old for Disney. Also, thanks for the “like” and stopping by my blog 🙂

    • I love your thrifty blog! We go shopping at the Goodwill once a fortnight or so to look for old Disney VHS. We now have almost the entire collection and except for the DVDs they all only cost $1.99! Cheaper than Netflix! I’ll post our Pocahontas night next for you, thanks for visiting!

  2. This is so great! We love Disney around here too, but do Disneyland since it is only a 7 hour drive away. I love all the creative food pairings!

    • Thank you for stopping by! I’d love to go to Disneyland some day – so fun! And my son would LOVE Cars Land!
